The second edition of PetEx is just weeks away

Exhibitor discount of 12.5 per cent for members of PetQuip

Ireland’s only trade exhibition solely for pets and aquatics takes place on Sunday 12 and Monday 13 September 2010 at the RDS, Dublin. The two day event is brought to the pet care industry by the organiser of Pet Expo, the consumer show successfully launched in 2007 and now in its fourth year of being staged for the pet owners of Ireland.

The market in Ireland is valued at over €200 million and has been growing consistently in recent years. As with many markets around the world, the increasing humanisation of pets and a desire to improve their wellbeing appear to be the main drivers of this growth. Pet care is one of the sectors in Ireland that has come through the economic downturn more or less unscathed.

The show organiser has introduced the option of smaller, six square metre stands for exhibitors at this year’s event. That’s an attractive proposition for those on a limited budget, especially when taken in conjunction with the discount of 12.5 per cent offered to members of PetQuip.

British pavilion offers cost effective route to one of Europe’s most dynamic markets

May 2011 sees the 14th edition of Zoomark International. Held in Bologna in alternate years to Interzoo, Nuremberg, Zoomark justifiably styles itself as an international trade fair. The 2009 edition of Zoomark had 616 exhibitors from 36 countries and drew 20,443 trade visitors from 65 markets. Nearly 5,000 of those visitors came from outside Italy.

PetQuip is organising a British pavilion at the biennial event for the third time and will be bidding for grant funding under UK Trade & Investment’s Tradeshow Access Programme. Grants for eligible British exhibitors are likely to be a minimum of £1,000.

Zoomark is not exclusively about the Italian market. As a look at the visitor charts on the Zoomark website www.zoomark.it quickly shows, the close proximity of Bologna to Central and Eastern Europe draws buyers from those rapidly developing markets for consumer goods (among a host of others), thus providing an added incentive for British suppliers to exhibit at the fair.

The outline of the package deal for British firms at next year’s show is now available. To obtain a copy and register your interest in joining the British exhibitor group at Zoomark International 2011, please contact Emma Lewis or Theresa Swann by email at emma@petquip.com; theresa@petquip.com; or

The global market for pet care continues to grow

Euromonitor International reports that the global pet care industry has remained relatively resilient to the recent global economic credit crunch, thanks largely to the ongoing pet humanisation trend. With pet owners increasingly viewing their pets as part of the family, Euromonitor says that spending on pets is no longer restricted to essential items such as pet food. More and more is being spent on discretionary items such as pet healthcare, pet dietary supplements, pet cosmetics and travel. These in turn create significant marketing opportunities and growth for pet food and pet care product manufacturers.

Euromonitor recently conducted a ‘webinar’ on global opportunities in pet care, looking at the development of the pet care industry, emerging markets and categories as well as leading trends. Notes from the webinar are available free of charge to PetQuip members. To obtain your copy, email neale@petquip.com
